Easily make at home Orange pound cake made with zebra design for your tea time cake. And over medium low
Ingredients:-
ORANGE JELLY
- 1+1/2 cup Orange juice
- 2 tbsp or as per taste Sugar
- 1 tbsp Corn flour
- 1/4 cup Water
BATTER
- 2 cup Refined flour / Maida
- 1 tsp Baking soda
- 2 tsp Baking powder
- 115 gm Butter
- 3/4 cup powdered Sugar
- 1 cup thick Curd / Yogurt
Orange Batter
- 1 cup made Orange jelly
- 1 tbsp Orange zest
- 2-4 drop Orange food colour
White Batter
- 3/8 cup Milk
- 1/4 tsp Vanilla essence
BAKE 200°C – 35 to 40 minutes
OVER GASTOP low heat – 40 to 50 minutes
Method :-
- Scrape the outer layer of an Orange to take out its zest.
- Squeeze out Orange juice.As the juice starts boiling add Sugar and Water diluted Corn flour.
- Continue boiling over low till the juice starts getting jelly thick.
- Now in a bowl add butter and sifted powdered Sugar.Mix thoroughly till it turns into a paste.Add Curd and mix again.
- In a separate bowl sift all the dry ingredients.Mix.
- Slowly little at a time add and mix the bowl of dry ingredients into the bowl of wet ingredients to get the cake batter.
- Divide the batter in two equal parts in two separate bowl.
- In one bowl add and mix all the ingredients for Orange batter .
- In another bowl add and mix all the ingredients for white batter.
- Take a greased cake tin lined with butter paper or with dry flour.
- In the middle of the tin drop 2-3 tablespoons of one of the batter and then over it drop another coloured batter.This will make a zebra or a two coloured whirlpool design.
- Continue doing this till it gets difficult to add more batter in middle.
- Wobble the tin and then set to bake.
- Cool remove from tin and then cut.
Tips :-
- When the juice starts sticking to your spatula it means it has become thick.
