Moong dal burfi is a very authentic recipe mostly made by traditional Halwai. Moong dal Barfi can be made using khoya or without khoya and the method of making moong dal burfi can be in two ways.One by just dry grinding and then roasting the yellow lentil. The other method is to first rinse the dal and then dry it before grinding it.

Moong dal Burfi Halwai Style

Moong dal is taken as green moong dal which is whole Hara moong with the skin or as yellow split lentils without skin. Its always said to consume dal unpolished with the skin over it which provides our body with fiber and fiber is good to control constipation, and lower blood sugar and pressure We usually make thin or semi-thick moong dal both with skin or without skin by adding tadka or it also tastes awesome without tadka.

Moong Dal Burfi Recipe Without Mawa |Moong Ke Dal Ki Barfi

Make halwai style moong dal burfi without mawa in authentic way

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup split green Gram / Dhula Moong dal
  • 1 cup Butter / Ghee
  • 1 tbsp Gram flour / Besan
  • 3/4 cup Sugar / Cheeni
  • 1/2 cup Water / Pani
  • 1/2 tsp green Cardamom / Hari elaechi powder
  • Some chopped Pistachios /

Instructions
 

  • Rinse split green gram about 2 to 3 times to take out any dust or impurities out of it.
  • Strain out any excess water and then spread it over a cotton cloth to completely dry under fan.
  • Next grind it in form of a flour.
  • Melt Ghee and add the made flour and Gram flour in it.
  • Roast over low heat for about 15 to 20 minutes by continuously stirring it, till aromatic and the flour feels damp with Ghee.
  • Now make a one string sugar syrup by melting Sugar in Water.Check and recheck by taking a drop of the syrup between your finger and thumb till you get one sting stickiness of the syrup.
  • Add green Cardamom powder.
  • Add the made Sugar syrup in the roasted flour and keep stirring it over low till you get a loose halwa type consistency.
  • Add and level it into a greased mould or tin also sprinkling and set some chopped Pistachios over it.
  • Cool cut and enjoy.

Note 

  • Grind the Dal in batches.
