How to Make Curd With or Without Starter

You will make perfect sweet  curd like a pro if you religiously follow below mentioned tips and tricks.

Ingredients:-

  • 500 ml Milk
  • 2 Dry or fresh Chilli
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Curd

Method:-

  1. Heat milk until about 70% hot which means heat the Milk until you don’t feel uncomfortable touching it.
  2. Add either Lemon juice or Chillies as a starter to make curd if you don’t have Curd as a starter.
  3. Keep the curd bowl covered with a thick cloth like towel to keep it warm .
  4. Let the Curd to set for 4-5 hours.

Tips :-

  • You get a thicker curd with Milk having more fat content like toned milk.
  • Some reasons which can turn curd sour – (1) Don’t add too much Curd as a starter. (2) Avoid making Milk too hot than required.(3) Don’t keep Curd to set for longer than required time.(4)If the weather is already too hot don’t keep Curd to set covered.(5)To avoid sour curd keep it set in a clean bowl.
  • if you are staying in a cold region keep Curd to set covered in a warm oven.
