Paneer Aloo Tikki is a crispy snack made with mashed potatoes, paneer (cottage cheese) and spices. It is a perfect tea-time treat, party appetizer or a healthy kid’s snack. You can have it deep fried, shallow fried or air-fried. This recipe is versatile and so easy to make. In this article, we will share various versions of this dish, including aloo paneer cutlets, paneer cutlets without potato, and air-fryer versions.

Various Cooking Methods

1. Shallow Frying (Traditional Method)

Heat oil in a pan and put the tikkis carefully. Cook on medium heat till golden brown and crispy on both sides

2.Heathy Air Fryer or Potato paneer Oven Method

Preheat air fryer to 180°C (350°F). Brush tikkis with oil and place in air fryer basket. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway, until crispy and golden.

3. Without Potato Paneer Cutlet

Replace out mashed potatoes for mashed sweet potatoes, grated carrots, or cooked chickpeas for a healthier version. Cook as above.

Aloo Paneer Tikki for Toddlers & Kids

For kids if you don’t want to add green chilies then skip it or make it mild. Serve with homemade yogurt dip or mild tomato sauce.

Serving Suggestions

Serve hot with green chutney, tamarind chutney or ketchup. You can also use them as burger patties for a delicious homemade snack. Pair them with a cup of masala chai for a perfect evening treat.

Ingredients :- ( Serves 14 )

  • 4 boiled Potatoes / Aloo
  • 100 gm Cottage cheese / Paneer
  • 1 tsp Ginger paste
  • 1 tsp Chilli paste
  • 1 tbsp Green Coriander / Dhaniya
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 – 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander powder / Dhaniya
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin / Zeera
  • 1/2 tsp Chaat Masala
  • 1 tsp Dry mango powder / Aamchur
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp Carom / Ajwain
  • 4 tbsp Bread crumb
  • A pinch Asafoetida / Hing
  • 3 tbsp Semolina / Suji
  • Oil


Method:-

  1. Mash the boiled Potatoes.There shouldn’t be any lumps or chunks in it.
  2. Crumble and add Cottage cheese to it.
  3. Add and combine to a dough all the above ingredients including 2 tablespoons Bread crumb.
  4. Applying oil over your palm pinch a small portion of made dough in shape of Tikki
  5. Coat made Tikki with Bread crumb.
  6. Heat Oil and shallow fry made Tikki’s over a low heat till crispy golden brown.Flip them in between.
  7. Take out over paper towel,serve hot with sauce.

Note

  • Instead of a Tikki you can make any other shape too.
  • Frying on low heat makes Tikki’s crispy.
